Afterglow Institute is the education, public speaking, and professional development division of Afterglow Behavioral & Sexual Health, LLC. The Institute brings meaningful conversations about mental health, sexual wellness, relationships, and personal growth into classrooms, workplaces, professional gatherings, and communities. Its purpose is to make complex and often sensitive topics understandable, approachable, and relevant to everyday life.
Led by Dr. Ryan Kent, Afterglow Institute extends the Afterglow mission beyond the therapy room. Through speaking engagements, classes, and interactive workshops, it creates opportunities for people to deepen their understanding of themselves and others. Programs approach mental and sexual well-being with compassion, curiosity, and respect for diverse identities, abilities, backgrounds, and lived experiences.
Classes and Interactive Workshops
Classes and workshops provide opportunities to explore a topic in greater depth. Participants engage with ideas through guided reflection, practical exercises, and conversation that connects learning to their own experiences. The emphasis is on building understanding and skills that can support confidence, informed choices, and more fulfilling relationships. Programs may address communication between partners, changing experiences of intimacy, sexual confidence, or understanding and changing unwanted behavioral patterns. Learning environments encourage participation while respecting personal boundaries; participants do not need to disclose private experiences to benefit from the discussion.
Professional Education and Training
Afterglow Institute supports professionals seeking a more informed and compassionate approach to mental and sexual health. Educational offerings can help clinicians, educators, and other helping professionals become more comfortable discussing sensitive concerns and recognizing how emotional, physical, and relational experiences intersect. Training may explore sexual health conversations in practice, body image concerns, intimacy during chronic illness, or the distinction between healthy sexual expression and distressing behavioral patterns. Programs emphasize practical applications and clearly defined learning objectives. Any continuing education credit or approval is identified for the specific offering.
Organizational and Community Education
Afterglow Institute works with organizations and community groups to develop education that responds to the needs of the people they serve. These programs can support more respectful conversations, greater awareness of mental and sexual wellness, and a shared understanding of boundaries, consent, and human diversity. Offerings may range from a single presentation to a series of workshops. Content is tailored to the setting and audience so that participants leave with knowledge they can use in their relationships, communities, or professional roles.
The Institute’s Role Within the Afterglow Family
Afterglow Institute connects the work of Afterglow’s three divisions through shared learning. Afterglow Therapy & Consultation provides individualized care and guidance. Afterglow Publishing supports independent authors and develops resources that extend access to meaningful ideas. Afterglow Institute brings those conversations to life through speaking, teaching, and interactive education. Institute programs are educational and do not establish a therapy relationship or replace individualized mental health care. Their purpose is to expand understanding, reduce stigma, and help people recognize opportunities for connection and growth.
